Senate Bill 16-17-19

Bill ID: 16-17-19
PCC ID: 16010
Name: PCC Proposal to Establish a Master of Quantitative Finance
Proposed: 09/30/2016
Sponsor: PCC Committee
Proposal: The Robert H. Smith School of Business proposes launching a Masters in Quantitative Finance (MQF) program designed to provide students with a rigorous understanding of how to apply mathematical and statistical models to financial securities and markets. The financial crisis on Wall Street and around the globe has forever changed the way we think about finance. Now more than ever, financial decision making depends on building sophisticated models that facilitate better pricing of securities and more sophisticated risk management. Students who complete the MQF degree will possess the knowledge and skills necessary to address the challenges confronting financial decision makers and financial market participants.
