Proposal: Every two years, the Staff Affairs Committee conducts elections for this campus's representatives to the Council of University System Staff (CUSS). CUSS is an important part of the shared governance structure of the University System of Maryland (USM), and its members can influence important issues that directly impact staff. CUSS consists of elected representatives from all USM institutions and is charged with advising the Chancellor and the Board of Regents on a variety of matters.

Candidacy: March 30 - April 10
Voting: April 20 - May 1

On March 30, the Senate Office emailed all eligible staff members with information about the CUSS elections. Sixteen candidates stood for election. Three were elected as primary representatives, three as alternates. Their two-year terms begin in August 2020.

The Staff Affairs Committee will send a memo communicating the election results to the SEC for Senate consideration.
