| Proposal: | In 2020, the College of Arts and Humanities’ Department of Women’s Studies was renamed the Harriet Tubman Department of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. In the spring of 2021, the undergraduate major and upper-division certificate program titles in Women’s Studies were also changed to Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. This proposal is to rename the Master of Arts in “Women’s Studies” to “Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies.” The master’s program is not a stand-alone M.A. program. However, on the way to a Ph.D., students who have completed the appropriate coursework may request conferral of a master's degree. The proposal will align the program with the department and undergraduate program names, and also reflect the current scope of the Ph.D. program. A separate proposal has been submitted to rename the Ph.D. program. |
