Senate Bill 24-25-38

Bill ID: 24-25-38
Name: Review of the Interim University of Maryland Policy on Out-of-State Work for Faculty (Senate Document 24-25-38)
Proposed: 05/02/2025
Sponsor: John Bertot, Office of Faculty Affairs
Proposal: The University System of Maryland (USM) Policy on Out-of-State Work for Employees (VI-6.20) requires “each USM institution to develop a policy on Out-of-State Work”. In order to comply with this USM Policy and to mitigate risk to the University of Maryland, College Park (“the University”) as well as faculty members who regularly perform work outside of the State of Maryland, the University of Maryland Policy on Out-of-State Work for Faculty (VI-6.20(A)) was developed. This policy was approved by the President on an interim basis, pending University Senate review April 11, 2025. The Senate should conduct a full and thorough review of the interim policy within the University Senate’s shared governance structure.
