Proposal: | The Office of General Counsel, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and the Division of Student Affairs, in collaboration with the Office of the President, request that the University Senate review and approve the technical update to policy VI-1.00 (B) University of Maryland Non-Discrimination Policy and Procedures. These updates have been approved by the President, on an interim basis, on May 1, 2025. The changes would include adding the word “pregnancy” to the policy statement and updating a footnote regarding national origin. The changes to the policy would not affect the University's commitment to non-discrimination. The updates provide the University policy with vital clarifying language and help ensure the policy is consistent with best practices. |
