2013 Campus Safety Forum

Protect the Shell: Senate Campus Affairs Committee Annual Safety Forum

Mark your calendars! All faculty, staff and students are invited to the Campus Affairs Committee's annual safety forum, which will be cosponsored by the Student Government Association and the Graduate Student Government! Each year, the committee holds a forum to gather community input on safety and security issues, with the goal of providing information from the community to the University Senate and the University administration. Past forums have focused on motor scooter safety and sexual assault.

The safety forum will be held on Tuesday, March 12th, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., in the Juan Ramon Jimenez Room (room 2208) of the Stamp Student Union. The event will feature a panel of speakers who will give brief remarks, after which we will welcome questions, concerns, and comments about safety from the audience.

The safety forum this year will focus on personal safety on and off campus, with an emphasis from presenters on tips for staying safe and resources available on campus. The panel will feature:

  • Chief Mitchell, University Department of Public Safety
  • Samantha Zwerling, President, Student Government Association
  • David Colon Cabrera, President, Graduate Student Government
  • John Zacker, the BETA Team
  • Marcy Marinelli, Chair, Campus Affairs Committee

We look forward to your participation in this forum! Please email senate-admin@umd.edu with any questions about the event.
